It has taken true dedication and long term commitment for two Karamea locals to achieve thoroughly deserved Awards. Both Duke of Edinburgh's International Awards and On Track Leadership Awards were presented to Mr William Galway and Mr Timothy Galway by Justin and Silvia Blacklock, Award Leaders at Search The Way Award Unit.
Will Galway improved fitness and skills levels cycling, showed talent and ability playing guitar, gave great service doing a variety of tasks helping others in the community and completed multi-day adventurous journeys in the Matiri region and Old Ghost Road in the Kahurangi National Park. Will was the recipient of the Level 4 On Track Leadership Award and a copy of his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (he is due to be presented his official Gold Award at a special ceremony attended by the Governer General in 2022). Tim Galway learnt new tricks and kept fit mountain biking, added to his repertoire and enhanced his skill level in electric guitar playing, helped friends and fundraised to give service to others, and also completed multi-day adventurous journeys in the Matiri region and Old Ghost Road in the Kahurangi National Park. Tim was the recipient of the Level 3 On Track Leadership Award and the Silver Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
Big congratulations to both brothers who have shown themselves to be fine, multi-talented young men who no doubt have a lot more to contribute to their wider community in the road ahead. Great going Galways!
